Calexico - incorporated in 1908, Calexico represents the marriage of two diverse cultures; Cailfornia and Mexico. It is this blending of communities that makes the area so unique. Calexico also has the good fortune of being located in the center of a sportmanxs paradise. Nearby the towering sand dunes of the Colorado Desert create the Sahara of the west and offer excellent terrain for off-road enthusiasts. Customs

To carry weapons without a permit is a federal offense in Mexico. Importing weapons is a federal offense in Mexico. Importing sports weapons requires an updated permit which may be granted by any Mexican Consulate.

the Mexican government provides free tourist and transit visas. The tourist car may be issued for 30, 60 or 90 days and for as long as 180 days. It is possible to request an extension upon proof of financial solvency. The Mexican government reserved the right to grant it. The transit visa is granted to individuals passing through the country and can be extended. United States and Canadian citizens who wish to visit the Mexican border regions can do so for 72 hours without a tourist visa.

If you like bullfights, you may find a daring matador in the Plaza Calafia Bullring. There is also boxing and wrestling. Calexico Unified School District has hired a new Principal. Doctor Gilbert Mendez begins his tenure as Calexico High School Principal September 1. Mendez fills the vacancy left by Gilbert Barraza, who resigned to take the position of Principal at Pasadena High School.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico downtown port of entry discovered 92 wrapped packages of marijuana hidden in a truck attempting to enter the U.S. The incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. Thursday when a CBP officer conducting vehicle primary inspections noticed discrepencies in the vehicles gas tank.
