Capitol Hill is one of Seattle's most hip and diverse neighborhoods with a mix of funky restaurants and bars, eclectic shops, art-house theaters, and prominent gay and lesbian communities. This district is also home to several colleges including Seattle University and Cornish College of the Arts. Places of interest are the Seattle Asian Museum and Volunteer Park.
Downtown, Waterfront, Pioneer Square
Historic Pioneer Square is about 10 blocks south of the Waterfront and Pike Place Market. Bookstores, restaurants and upscale boutiques line the streets around the Square during the day; at night it is a good place to find food, microbrews, and live music.
Fremont District
Fremont is a hip and interesting area, north of downtown Seattle and across Lake Union. Antique stores, art galleries, coffee houses and bookstores abound in the neighborhood. It is the self-proclaimed ""Center of the Universe"" featuring unique local art such as a statue of Vladmir Lenin, a Korean-built rocket, and a car-eating troll under state route 99 bridge.
International District
This 10-15-block neighborhood in Downtown Seattle's southeastern section was formerly called Chinatown. The name was changed to reflect the diversity of the neighborhood. Revitalization of the area has included new offices, housing and retail along 5th Avenue S, along with restoration of Union Station and new stadiums for the Mariners and Seahawks.
Queen Anne Hill
An incredible view of Elliott Bay and the Seattle skyline can be seen from the west slope of Queen Anne Hill, especially from Kerry Park - Seattle's most photographed view. To the south are equally spectacular views of the Space Needle and Mount Ranier.
